In this blog post, we breakdown the movement of the employment-based and family-sponsored categories in the coming month.

The U.S. Citizenship and immigration Services (USCIS) has not yet indicated which chart it will use to determine filing eligibility for adjustment of status to permanent residence in January 2025.

FINAL ACTION DATES FOR EMPLOYMENT-BASED PREFERENCE CASES
According to the Department of State’s January 2025 Visa Bulletin, the following Final Action cutoff dates will apply for employment-based categories in the month of January.
EB-1 Aliens of extraordinary ability, Outstanding Professors and Researchers, and Certain Multinational Managers or Executives
- EB-1 India will remain at February 1, 2022
- EB-1 China will remain at November 8, 2022
- EB-1 All other countries will remain current
EB-2 Members of the Professions and Aliens of Exceptional Ability
- EB-2 India will advance by two months to October 1, 2012
- EB-2 China will advance by one month to April 22, 2020
- EB-2 All other countries will advance by 2 weeks to April 1, 2023

Conclusion
For all employment-based categories, there will be no movement in the Dates for Filing chart for the month of January.
For the Final Action Dates, EB-2 India will advance by two months to October 1, 2012, EB-2 China will advance by one month to April 22, 2020, and EB-2 all other countries will advance by two weeks to April 1, 2023.
For EB-3 professionals and skilled workers, India will advance by three weeks to December 1, 2012, China will advance by two months to June 1, 2020, and all other countries will advance by two weeks to December 1, 2022.
For EB-3 other workers, EB-3 India will advance by three weeks to December 1, 2012, and all other countries except China will advance by one week to December 8, 2020.
With respect to the family-based categories, significant advancements can be seen in both the Dates for Filing chart and Final Action Dates chart as indicated in the highlights.
